Worthy successor to the Pogues, the Levellers have met with great success from their first album released in 1990 "A Weapon Called the World". Signed to the prestigious China Records label, the group became the leader of the Celtic Folk Punk movementof the 90s. Concerts follow each stage and their reputation spread throughout Europe. The group manages toclassify several albums and singles in the Top 10 charts of Europe and became a heavyweight in the English scene at European level. At their peak the group landed a deal with Warner Bros for worldwide distribution. They organize the festival since 2002 Beautiful South England continues to meet a wide popular success. The Levellers DVD 'Chaos Theory was released in December 2006 and the group has toured European festivals in 2007 with thirty concerts in the summer. The success of their festival Beautiful South continues unabated despite low media coverage. It must be said that the group has developed a large audience of fans as evidenced by the exceptional vitality of the "Alternative Levellers Message Board" website. They remain highly mobilized on the political and ecological issues and strongly support the young music scene in Brighton (MetwaySessions compilation).
